Ian and I returned from a fabulous holiday in Memphis. As it was the thirtieth anniversary of Elvis' death we thought we could not miss the opportunity to travel to be part of the whole occasion. It was 105o and far too hot for comfort but we soldiered on taking part in the Candlelit Vigil at Graceland; visiting Sun Studios; The Civil Rights Museum; Beale Street; Steam Boat on the Mississippi and finally a visit to Memphis Zoo. Our hotel was an extremely friendly place to be - we shared it with Elvis' first band! Our holiday culminated with the manageress taking us out for a steak dinner! Although the hotel wasn't in the centre of Memphis it was easy to travel around using taxis. If you use taxis with a meter then you should be ok. We did meet a lovely man who did not overcharge us (as some did at the beginning of the week). His firm is JB Tours. His email is: jbtcb4ever@hotmail.com He is based in Memphis and Tupelo (Elvis' birthplace). Give him a try he won't rip you off.
Our hotel is very inexpensive if you book direct. Beware of using holiday companies who charged us $1400 for a room which would have cost $420 for the week had we booked online or by 'phone direct with the hotel. It is a comfortable hotel, which is being updated by the new Manageress, Jane - cheap and cheerful springs to mind. There will be breakfasts on offer soon so you won't necessarily have to go to the Cracker Barrel (next door) to eat (though it was wonderful cooking).

New Arrival
Our new arrival Antiguason Sweet Patience:
Sire: GRCH Sargenta Silver Uilliam and Dam: CH Surreptitious Deanna Troy
Patience is a superb cat. She has a wonderful temperament and loves human company. She is in the process of training us to throw a paper ball for her so she can retrieve it for us and we can do it all over again... and again... and again... Thanks to Adele and Jonathan for such a wonderful character.
